On October 16, 2015, Qatar Museums – Mathaf hosted a special cultural event to inaugurate the "Intolerance" exhibition by Belgian artist Luc Tuymans. This exhibition, which was launched in the presence of prominent figures in the cultural and political fields in Qatar, provided a wonderful opportunity for visitors to engage with artworks that carry deep messages about the theme of intolerance and its impact on societies.
In the photo taken at the event, His Excellency Sheikh Hassan bin Mohammed Al Thani, Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Qatar Museums, can be seen participating in the exhibition's activities. His presence reflects Qatar’s ongoing support for art and culture in all its forms. Also pictured is His Excellency Dr. Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari, Minister of Culture, Arts, and Heritage, one of the key figures contributing to the enhancement of culture and the arts in Qatar. Their continuous support for cultural events is part of the country’s commitment to strengthening the global art scene.
The "Intolerance" exhibition offered visitors a chance to understand the theme of intolerance through contemporary artworks. The artist Luc Tuymans aimed to highlight the negative effects of this phenomenon in the modern world through his paintings. The exhibition was part of Qatar Museums’ ongoing efforts to present artworks that provoke discussion and encourage visitors to reflect on important human values such as tolerance and mutual understanding between cultures.
The event at Qatar Museums – Mathaf was an opportunity not only to enjoy art but also to encourage cultural dialogue between visitors and artists, while highlighting important social issues, including intolerance, which is gaining increasing global attention.
